Definition

Terminal lucidity is a new term, but the phenomena has been reported for at least 100 years.

Terminal lucidity is a phenomena that happens with patients that have severe brain problems, such as Alzheimer’s.

They don’t recognize people, can’t even speak properly or recognize the world around them - but all of the sudden - they become their old normal self and can have lengthy intellectual conversations!

Shortly after, up to a month after this phenomena, they pass away.

It is becoming such a common pattern, that nurses and doctors know when a patient has sudden lucidity, while having severe brain problems - they are actually getting closer to their end.
