Introduction
In scientific terms, psychokinesis (PK) stands for psychic influence upon an object, system, or process.
However, psychokinesis is also associated with the power of positive thinking that can bring about desired events.
While telepathy, precognition, and clairvoyance entail the perception of information outside of the ordinary senses, psychokinesis is an ability to act on the external world through conscious intention.
Scientists have shown that conscious intention (PK) is much more effective in systems that are already in a state of change or uncertainty (e.g. coin toss).
PK research is divided into three categories for which the strength of evidence varies.
The first category is bio-PK or DMILS (“distant mental interaction with living systems) which refers to the influence on humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms.
The second category is called macro-PK and it stands for directly observable large-scale influence on physical objects (e.g. lifting a chair up in the air).
The third category is known as micro-PK, and it refers to the influence on random events that is observable only through statistical analysis.
Now, let us find out what the research tells us about psychokinesis.
