Introduction
Hypnagogia (or hypnagogic state) is the transitional state from wakefulness to sleep.
The opposite state (waking up from sleep) is called hypnopompic state.
During hypnagogia, an enormous transition of consciousness occurs: from being fully awake and in this reality, to falling asleep and moving into the dream world.
These two worlds are so different: the environment is different and even the same rules don’t apply in both.
And yet, in the morning, we wake up and are the same person as we were when we went to sleep.
